Resumen
This monograph presents the results of a study that has taken place in an assembly line with a high rate of absenteeism. The employee`s duties were deeply examined and the contradictions on the procedures they should follow in the factory`s prescription have shown relation to their absenteeism. Then, this study aims at exploring the consequences of these contradictions on the employee`s activities and displaying the determining factor in the absenteeism. For clarification purposes, concepts such as worker`s activities, absenteeism and ergonomics have been discussed to present accurate results. As a theoretical method, we researched data from Internet periodicals and highly respected books of Ergonomics. Our practical approach has been developed from the analysis of the Ergonomics of work which follows the method preconized by Guérin, et al. It has taken place in an automotive wire harness factory from June 2011 to June 2012. Our findings have shown that the factory`s prescription do not contribute to the execution of the task and adaptation is constantly required from the employees in the assembly line. Consequently, these both factors result in high rates of absenteeism.
