Strauss et Machiavel. La tyrannie et la vertu politique

Abstract

The main purpose of this article is to examine the relation between « modern tyrannies » and the thought of Machiavelli, after Leo Strauss. In the first place, I present the arguments of Strauss as we find them in his book on tyranny. In the second place, I try to call into question his approach evocating the Machiavellian notions of “virtù” and “common good”.
