Resumen
Based on a discussion of the relationships between event, representation and social memory, this work describes and analyzes Brazilian newsmagazine Veja's front covers. The thesis attempts, with the use of plastic semiotics, to understand the meanings embedded in text and images presented through 40 years of Brazil's best-selling magazine, and to characterize the memories extracted from its front covers from the way events have been represented between 1968 and 2008.
