Resumen
Intertextuality is a recursive phenomenon in human language. This phenomenon is manifested when, given the process of production and comprehension of a target text, human beings identify features of a source text or of a network of recognized meanings, that is, previously established and shared. This is a phenomenon identified in differentforms of verbal and nonverbal language expression. In this research work, Intertextuality, studied under a cognitive perspective, is taken essentially as an argumentative strategy involved in human experience of construction of meaning. The phenomenon is analyzed and described through theoretical and methodological bases of Cognitive Linguistics. Inthis sense, it is understood as a manifestation of the dialogical principle of language (Bakhtin, 2000, 2002 [1929]) and of cognition (Tomasello, 2003, 2008) and as a manifestation of the basic cognitive operation of Conceptual Integration (Faucconier; Turner, 2002; Brandt, 2004). Considering the nature of the studied phenomenon and theobjectives of this research, the methodology used to identify, select, document and analyze data is based on the presuppositions of introspective analysis of linguistic data. The selection of texts from different genres is justified as they are widespread in contemporary Brazilian society and have different socio-communicative objectives. Thedata in this research consist of representative texts of advertising language (printed and video advertisements), of literary language (fairy tale) and of journalistic language (short story). In addition to the introspective theoretical analysis made by the researcher, thiswork points to the possibility of performing empirical studies. Thus, the research presents a preliminary analysis of data resulting from a metacognitive activity video-documented in the school environment. The results obtained by this research point to evidences thatintertextuality, from a cognitive perspective, can be described as a concrete expression of the process of conceptual integration.
