Resumen
The behavior of the connections can be described mainly by the moment-rotation diagram, which considers the relationship between the applied bending moment and the relative rotation between the connected elements and which can be developed through three fundamental properties: rotational stiffness, the ability to rotate the connection. Usually the stiffness is not considered during the dimensioning of the connections and the same are projected considering two idealized types of behavior: rigid and flexible. Due to the practical impossibility of designing and executing optimal connections, the actual behavior of a connection is semi-rigid. Therefore, this work has as objective the study of the behavior of a beam-pillar connection with end plate, through the method of the components. For this, fundamental concepts about the behavior, the classification and the various types of behavior of the connections are presented. Next, some concepts, steps and procedures are presented that are necessary for the application of the method of the components. Finally, some numerical examples of a beam-pillar end plate connection are presented, in order to evaluate the influence of the end plate thickness on the bonding behavior.
