The somatoform disorders has been increasingly common in primary care. The aim of this study was to help the primary care team to have more health benefits and knowledge to diagnose and treat patients with Somatoform Disorders in daily clinical practice of FHS. We conducted a review of literature addressing. The collection of materials was through books, journals and scientific articles available in various databases of Virtual Health Library (www.bvs.com.br) using the words "Somatoform Disorder" and "FHS". The somatoform disorders are a group of diseases commonly found in daily medical practice in primary care, but its correct diagnosis and treatment depend on their specific knowledge and proper training for the professionals of the Family Health Teams, who should care for their carriers, since there is rarely need for referrals to psychiatric services. Its main feature is the presence of physical symptoms not confirmed by diagnostic exams or surgical findings unrelated to the complaints, leading to poor acceptance by patients of these teams and is frequently rated as pitiáticos, boring or scene-makers. The somatoform disorders are divided into six distinct pathologies contemplated in ICD 10 and DSM IV TR that were studied in this work, including data for its identification, its pharmacological treatment or other drug therapies do not. They may come associated with other diseases, especially depression and anxiety. Its high incidence causes a great demand for health care in primary care, both queries as the examinations that much burden health systems, preventable by a proper diagnosis, which, besides reducing unnecessary costs, increase satisfaction users and self-esteem of primary care professionals to family health.
