Resumen
Starting from a socio-spatial perspective, the general objective is to reflect on critical education for the collective good. As an object and example of collective education activity, we study the indigenous community of Aldeia Gavião Kyikatêjê. The Gavião Kyikatêjê Village is located in the Mãe Maria Indigenous Reserve, at km 25 of BR 222, in the municipality of Bom Jesus do Tocantins, in the southeastern state of Pará. We analyze how the village leaders are positioned in relation to the education of the youngsters. One of the specific objectives is to gather elements that characterize indigenous attitudes regarding the importance of informal education for the community and the good of the community. In order to obtain the relevant data, we chose to use participative observational methodology accompanying the natives in some of their daily and festive cultural activities. Data collection activities happened by means of silent observation, informal conversations and specific interviews. All collection activities were followed by memoirs. The present thesis was also guided by studies of different authors who in one way or another contributed to the discussion of the central themes of the research, especially Paulo Freire on the discussion of education, Marcelo Lopes de Souza on the socio-spatial issue and Curt Nimuendajú on the Timbira ethnicity.
