Resumen
Lumbar pain (DL) is a frequent cause of morbidity and disability, being an important health and socioeconomic problem. In an effort to understand its mechanism of injury, some research has looked at distal problems of the lower limbs, such as deviations of the foot and ankle. The increase in magnitude, velocity, and duration of the subtalar pronation pattern that allows foot adaptation to the supporting surface, shock absorption, and dissipation of the rotation of the lower limbs is defined as excessive pronation of the subtalar joint. Thus, the objective of this literature review is to verify if there is influence of excessive pronation of the subtalar joint in the DL. In order to identify the articles on the subject, a comprehensive literature search was conducted in the following electronic databases Medline, Lilacs, Cochrane, Scielo, Embase and Pedro, in which only four were included in this review and two others were allocated by manual selection . It was observed that the reduction of the medial longitudinal arch was correlated with the increase of the lumbar lordosis, as well as the immediate effects of the eversion of the calcaneus caused significant alterations of the pelvic posture producing anteversion and pelvic lateral inclination, which can cause lumbar hyperlordosis that is the result of an increase in loads imposed on the facet joints which has been associated with the occurrence of DL. From the available evidence, it can be verified that excessive pronation of the subtalar joint, as well as the presence of anatomical misalignments in the lower limbs, are factors that can influence the development of musculoskeletal disorders, such as DL.
