Resumen
The continued growth in health spending has led to diverse needs for care. Thus, it is
necessary to develop mechanisms for articulation between the sectors involved in the
production, incorporation and use of technologies in the health system. Given the
current scenario of increased mortality from cardiovascular disease (CVD) in which it
is found in Brazil, it is expected that the use of applications for smartphones helping
patients with CVD is promising, but the lack of a comprehensive guiding structure is
the main barrier to standardize data collection and integration, which creates insecurity
for professionals and users. Therefore, this work aims to review the benefit and
adherence strategies in the use of the health application in the process of
pharmacotherapeutic management and medication adherence for patients with CVD.
Regarding the methodological procedures, the research was a narrative review of the
literature and consists of articles researched in the academic library: PubMed, where
7 studies were selected, and the duration of the studies occurred from February 2019
to May 2020. The result found was that the use of mobile health applications as an
addictive tool is effective in pharmacotherapeutic management and medication
adherence for patients with CVD. However, more rigor by regulatory bodies and the
establishment of evidence-based guidelines are necessary to increase the credibility
of the apps. It is concluded that new strategies, which help to improve the clinical
outcome, are essential for the management of CVD, since this disease is still the most
prevalent, according to the Ministry of Health, in the follow-up of mortality and morbidity
among chronic non-communicable diseases in Brazil.
