Resumen
The atraumatic restorative treatment (ART) is a technique based on the concept of minimal intervention and maximum preservation of dental structures, characterized by partial removal of dentine affected by caries and sealing the cavity with glass ionomer cement of high viscosity. Since associated with prevention programs and health promotion, the ART can be considered an important strategy to control dental caries, can contribute to improving access to dental services and encourage the management of patients within their social context. Considering the large unmet need for dental treatment with demand and the difficulties faced by the team of dental health of the Family Health Strategy Bias Fortes, this study proposes an intervention plan based on both the critical review of the literature on atraumatic restorations as the current reality of the city. The proposal is based on the adoption of ART as a means of controlling dental caries, this technique being linked to programs of health promotion. To this end, strategies are suggested to be made in the short, medium and long term.
