Resumen
Our research deals with Aristotle's account of temperance () in the Nicomachean Ethics. Our goal is twofold: first, to briefly reconstruct the relevant historical context for the discussion of Plato and Aristotle. Second, to point out the main difficulties in Aristotle's account while going through the main interpretations introduced by the secondary literature. Our main goal will be to analyze the seeming paradoxical characterization of the temperate and intemperante dispositions with regards to pleasure and pain. In order to solve the paradox, we will proceed by a detailed analysis of NE III.10-12.
