Resumen
The Brazilian higher education went through a first expansion in the middle of the last century and a second one in the beginning of the present century, when many of the new universities were settled in urban perimeters, prone to a potentially more critical acoustic zone. The proximity of the universities to the city's road system and the way in which these systems are articulated, they tend to increase the flow of vehicular traffic in the proximity of the buildings of a campus, generating a noise that can precarize the comfort, health and performance of academic communities. Thus, this research aims to identify the level of effectiveness of the implementation of two design strategies for building settlements on the campus of the Federal University of Juiz de Fora (UFJF) in order to promote noise mitigation at the site and ensure the noise levels acoustic environmental quality prevailing during the development of this work. For this, this investigation was based on sound measurements in loco at strategic points whose data were treated in a eletronic spreadsheet and represented in tables and graphs. It has been found that the design strategies are effective in reducing sound pressure on campus investigated, although they do not necessarily ensure acoustic environmental quality.
