Resumen
The present work has the objective of presenting how the dry type air core reactors are effective in interconnected networks with asymmetric loads in parallel lines, resulting in different line impedances or different capabilities to increase the transmission capability of the network without building new lines. First of all, the basic constructive types of reactors, the reference standards and an overview of the historical use for dry type air core reactors are presented. Then, the approach is focused at the applications where the technology of dry type air core reactors has gained relevant market in comparison with other reactors technologies. A specific vision of the application of the dry type air core reactor, used to maximize power transfer between parallel lines with different impedances, is presented along with three registered cases of successful applications. Finally, a conclusion is presented where the achieved results in the three cases are discussed; the overall impacts of the installation of a reactor in the electrical system and the relevance of this equipment with the power quality of the electrical system.
