Resumen
ORTHODONTIC-RESTORATIVE TREATMENT IN PATIENTS WITH AVULSION OF THE MAXILLARY CENTRAL INCISORS - CASE REPORT Traumatic dental injury is a common occurrence with negative impact on children´s quality of life. The avulsion of permanent teeth is a serious dental injury in which the upper central incisors are the most affected teeth. There are several treatment options and the appropriate one depends on the evaluation of each case. The Dental Trauma Program at UFMG School of Dentistry includes some specialties that, in order to improve the patient´s quality of life, develop actions that provide high quality treatments for dental trauma victims. This study presents a clinical case, an orthodontic and restorative approach of a young patient after the avulsion of the maxillary central incisors and was treated through this Program. Due to a vertical imbalance and absence of lip coverage, orthodontic space closure was performed and later the fixation of prefabricated composite resin veneers, in order to provide aesthetics and function to the patient. This therapy proved to be effective and may be a useful treatment option for dental avulsions. This Dental Trauma Program showed to be related with the resoluteness in treating a traumatized patient, enabling both the functional and psychosocial recoveries.
