This work has as first objective, to provide elements for the interpretations of three songs by Eunice Katunda (1915-1990), through the study of backgrounds that contextualizes each song in different moments and aspects of the composer.s life and the study of the analysis of relation between music and literary. By Norma Goldstein and Jan LaRue.s methods, lyric and music, respectively, we look for reaching the relationship between them, proposing, also, interpretative suggestions for each song. The three songs chosen to be a part of this study about Eunice Katunda.s work for voice and piano, Prenúncio do Sol (1961), Moda da Solidão-Solitude (1967) e Incelença das Ave-Marias (1972), had been selected for presenting different musical characteristics, and because they are situated in distinct moments of her life. After profound study about each song, they became a representation of all Eunice Katunda.s song work, comprehending music and personal references. With the observation turned to musical performance and to Eunice Katunda.s songs, this work also intends to bring the composer.s figure into the discussion environment and to proportionate her reintroduce in musical environment, through the disposable of printed, digitalized and revised edition of her songs in Anexo 2, and through the recording of these and other songs in the CD which is part of this work.
