Resumen
The Sardinhas creek sub-basin, located in Southern Iron Quadrangle, although presents relatively preserved landscape, has a significant amount of accelerated erosion foci mainly on its headwaters drain. Based on this consideration, this paper aims to present an environmental zoning sub-basin, by means of morphological analysis and the susceptibility of land to erosion. For this purpose, the work consists of three methodological steps: morphometric analysis, mapping natural erosive susceptibility and erosive susceptibility considering the use and occupation of the ground, zoning and environmental indicating vocations and weaknesses in terms of use and conservation . It was found that areas with higher natural erosive susceptibility embrace a strip along the upper and middle portion of Sardinhas creek sub-basin which corroborates with the local reality, given that in these areas are observed highest occurrences of accelerated erosion foci. Through datas insertion about the use and ocupation of the land has been found few changes in areas with higher levels of susceptibility demonstrating that the study area already has natural susceptibility of land to erosion. Finally, four macro-areas were defined in terms of erosive susceptibility as well as six microzones of aptitude and potential. Greater attention should be given to Zn1 Zone in order to have the same high drainage density and high gradient river and the main channel demonstrating the high energy potential for formation of new channels of first order.
