The racket properties may contribute to increase overload in the upper limbs of tennis players, increasing the risk of injury. The vibration transmitted through the strokes and the grip strength in the racket cable affect demand on the forearm and may be influenced by the size of the head, stiffness, weight distribution, size of grip and string tension. The objective of this study was to conduct a literature review to investigate how these properties can contribute to the development of lesions in the wrist, elbow and shoulder. A literature search was conducted in MEDLINE, and 13 studies were included in the review. The studies suggest that overloading of upper limbs during the tennis match is influenced by properties of the racket.
