Resumen
Andragogy is a theoretical and methodological approach focused on adult education and it establishes that this public acquires new knowledge incorporating them into the practical knowledge, in an autonomous and participative manner and by sharing experiences. But when it comes to traditional pedagogy, its most common model establishes a hierarchy of knowledge and teacher's authority over the students, leaving to them a passive role in the information absorption. This study aims to describe and analyze the agreement of Management and Accounting students on assumptions of andragogy and traditional pedagogy, as well as the perception of what these forms of teaching / learning is manifested most prominently in the institution where they study. The results indicated that while students show greater compliance with the assumptions of andragogy, the teaching experience in higher education still has most striking features of traditional pedagogy. This framework instigates reflections on the possibilities and challenges for adopting an andragogical
practice in higher education.
