The swimmings pedagogic is a needy field of research and methodologies focused on the initiation of infant swimming are still guided in the training system aimed at high yield. However, the approaches proposed for sports initiation in general offer validalternatives especially in the early stages in an attempt to transform the sporting context. In motor development are stages that lead the construction and development of teaching plans. Regarding the sports initiation, ought to adapt the basic principles of it properly into the scenario of the sport in order to preserve the child from possibleexcesses on an early start. As for swimming, it is necessary to rethink the way of methods applied, restructure and develop educational options to the current system of education in the infant swimming. Thus, this bibliographic review is based on the principles of sport initiation and motor development of the child, deals with aspects that influence positively and negatively the initiation step in infant swimming, seeking the necessary adjustments in order to show efficient methods to compose the teaching plans and provide a reasoned theory for the initiation of infant swimming proposal.
