Resumen
Smoking is considered a causal factor of approximately fifty different diseases and it is among the leading public health problems worldwide. The National Tobacco Control Program (NTCP) was established to reduce smoking prevalence and morbidity and mortality related to tobacco consumption in Brazil. Among the actions used by NTCP are professional training and funding toward de approach and treatment of smokers. This study aims to propose an action plan to approach and treatment of smokers within the green team Health Unit Basic Rosa Capuche - Betim, MG. This proposal demonstrates the importance of the Family Health Strategy as a great ally to the National Tobacco Control Program due to its central role in health education. The study methodology consists of a literature review (LILACS database, manuals of the Ministry of Health and INCA), organizing professional training and implementation of a pilot group for interested users. The expected results of this study are encouraging the prevention and health promotion, and increasing the access to treatment of smoking.
