Relevância da Dimensão Vertical de Oclusão no restabelecimento oclusal

Abstract

The determination of the vertical dimension of occlusions (VDO) is one of the most important steps in the oral rehabilitation and should not to be underestimated. There must be a careful assessment of the occlusal condition to detect wear, tooth loss and iatrogenic, to understand possible changes in the VDO. Likewise, facial aesthetics and patient age have equal relevance in the initial diagnosis. The correct VDO determines the satisfactory restoration of the functionsassociated with speech, chewing and swallowing, besides improve the facial appearance.The present work has the proposal to review in literature, how important is the correct determination of the VDO.
