Normal childbirth is the natural method of birth, promoting comfort and satisfaction for the woman during labor. Thus, the objective of this study was to elaborate and implement the use of the Swiss ball in labor as a non - pharmacological method for pain relief, in an Institution of Greater Vitória - ES. Study of the type of experience report, performed at a maternity hospital in Greater Vitória. All the nursing team participated in the four sensitization and training meetings held in the form of talk wheels and staging dynamics, which allowed important reflections on the importance of the nursing role for the humanization of labor, delivery and postpartum, besides the exchange of knowledge on the use of the Swiss ball as a non-pharmacological method for the relief of pain. The staff's concern with personnel scaling has arisen, which can compromise the appropriate assistance, including this good practice. In addition, a recurring question related to the moment of the expansion phase that the Swiss ball must offer. Doubts were clarified on the basis of scientific evidence. After the conversation wheels, a normative instruction was elaborated so that the use of the Swiss ball was instituted in the routine of that maternity. The strategy brought several positive points that strengthened the team to reach the proposed goal. In addition, the strategy also provided insight into other good practices, such as the need for skin-to-skin contact and the importance of breastfeeding in the first hour of life. At the end, a commitment was made to hold other meetings to strengthen ties and exchange new learning about humanization, good practices of childbirth and birth, not only with regard to the Swiss ball as a non-pharmacological method for the relief of pain at work of humanized delivery, as well as other nursing care practices.
