Changes in odontogenesis can manifest clinically in many ways and, because of the variety of alterations, they are often difficult to diagnose. This study aims to conduct a literature review on three changes that usually cause enough confusion among dentists, which are Amelogenesis Imperfecta and Dentinogenesis imperfect, with a hereditary character that affect all tooth in both dentitions.Furthermore,it also describes enamel hypoplasia, which may occur by local or systemic factors and attack one or more teeth. These changes may cause since dental color alterations to large structural losses, depending on the type of genetic alteration or the intensity of the local factor. Regardless of what changes the patient presents, we should always perform a good physical examination and collect family history, so that the diagnosis is correct and a proper treatment plan can be determined.
