Resumen
Ergonomics is a scientific discipline related to the understanding of the interactions between humans and other elements or systems and aims to transform the work in its various dimensions, adapting it to the characteristics and limits of human being and the production process. Many work situations are harmful to health. Diseases of the musculoskeletal system are the most important cause of work absenteeism and disability. The repetitive strain injury (RSI) or work-related musculoskeletal disorders (MSDs) are a set of conditions related to work activities. This paper aims to demonstrate that, the attitude adopted by the workers demanded by their work activities, can be directly related to low back pain and the consequent reduction in quality of life at work. We performed an Ergonomic Analysis of Work (EAW), which incl uded interviews with workers, managers and real work situation observation, and also a literature review, to search for articles in databases such as BIREME , MEDLINE, SciELO and LILACS as well as in ergonomic books obtained at production engineering Library from UFMG. Through out the study it could be concluded that there is a correlation between postures in the workplace, low back pain and decreased quality of life at work
