Resumen
The occurrence of low back pain in sports has been documented in several studies as the most common cause of loss of playing time. The training of the deep lumbar-pelvic stability has been highlighted in literature for the treatment of low back pain of population in general. This type of exercise aims at promoting synergism of deep lumbar-pelvic muscles in order to ensure stability of the spine. The study of the relationship between pain and rehabilitation in sports is important once the onsets may influence the results of training and competitions. In light of such physical demands of athletes, the present study was carried out to promote a literature review on the effect of lumbar-pelvic stabilization training in the treatment of low back pain in athletes. The literature review was performed by searching the Pubmed, CAPES Journals, Physiotherapy Evidence Database (PEDro), and Lilacs, and it featured three articles, one systematic review article, and two controlled studies. The studies showed controversial results after intervention and significant heterogeneity in the inclusion criteria, which alerts professionals to the need of further research, focusing on the specificity of each sport, including athletes of the same age and same level of training. In addition to this, a consensus in the literature regarding the prescription of the deep lumbar-pelvic muscle training exercises would be paramount so as to allow homogeneous studies and eventually surmise the implementation of intervention in specific sports
