Resumen
The present study sought to verify if the distribution of the positions of first and second hierarchical degrees in the Executive Power of the Municipality of Belo Horizonte, and the filling of the seats of councilman of the Legislative Power, follow the tendencies indicated by the most recent reports produced by the United Nations on the participation of women in the labor market and in politics. The research has a descriptive nature, whose data were collected through a bibliographical and documentary survey, based on the analysis of published works on the subject. Data recorded in the reports produced by the Millennium Observatory of Belo Horizonte in 2009, 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2018 were analyzed, for the follow-up of the Sustainable Development Objectives (ODS), the United Nations Agenda 2030. It was also observed that in the Municipality of Belo Horizonte the percentage of women occupying highranking positions and elected councilors is significantly lower than men, although they represent the greater part of the total population of the Municipality and of the Executive staff. Also in Belo Horizonte they are more and better educated than the men, which also did not solve the gender inequality in the municipal political participation. It is concluded that the reality in the public sphere of Belo Horizonte reflects what the UM diagnosed in the rest of the world, the persistence of inequalities in the sexual distribution of work and political life.
