In this study we propose to analyze the conflict mediation while tooling crime prevention while Public Policy. For this, we will make a case study of the performance of Conflict Mediation Program while the State Policy on Crime Prevention, developed and implemented by the State Department of Social Defense of Minas Gerais, Brazil. Based on the analysis of the theoretical basis of the idea of mediation as an alternative instrument for resolving conflicts is our intention in the proposed case study, analyze the results achieved by the program, its limitations and potential. The main objective is to understand the contribution of the actions developed by this program in the prevention of crime, expected goal. Thus, we will build the following central question: ls it possible to say that the mediation of conflicts, in this case, has contributed effectively to the prevention of crime, in level of the state, county or neighborhood? The methodology will consist of documentary analysis, using as sources of information presentation reports results, research reports and publications on the specific program, produced between 2005 and 2013. With the completion of the work has been possible to learn that despite the Conflict Mediation Program constitute certainly potential as a means of social transformation and achieving significant part of its ambitious goals, an instrument differentiated opposed to "culture" of violence: demonstration and quantification of the impact of their actions with regard, in particular the prevention of crime and violence at the local, municipal and state is not yet necessary task undertaken.
