This thesis presents an analysis of the retextualization of pedagogical texts for vocational education at secondary level carried out by technical editors. The analysis was done by comparing the final versions of the editors with the original ones. An interdisciplinary perspective was adopted, whereby the Semiolinguistic Theory of Discourse Analysis of Patrick Charaudeau interacts with Translation Studies. This ispossible since Charaudeaus communication contract allows its application to translational procedures, including that of retextualization.The comparison original text/final version allows for an investigation along a discourse/communicational perspective, in which the subjects involved are studied so that the existence of a communication contract with double application can be made apparent as expected of translations in general. Discourse organization is also analyzed to check the organization of pedagogical texts. Still bycomparison of the final versions with the original ones, retextualization strategies are also identified and analyzed to check their functionality as tools to improve the technical quality of rather informal pedagogical genre. The goal of this thesis is to demonstrate the importance of retextualization in vocational education as well as the responsibility of theretextualizer in the task of improving the pedagogical genre.
