Educação a distância no Brasil: vantagens e desafios

The Distance Education is presented as an alternative education, which has a differential element the possibility of training and qualifications of professionals who are in the exercise of its functions and distant from major training centers of the country. It is configured in this way into an instrument for democratizing access to education, which prioritizes the search and information and knowledge sharing, based on the needs and availability of diverse individuals. Thus, this study aimed to analyze the publications that focus on distance education in Brazil, identifying the advantages and challenges through integrative review. Through the results observed two themes: Positive and negative aspects of distance education and Related to Distance Education Challenges . It was noticed, with the study that the positives of distance education were highlighted in a more intense and relevant way by the authors, however, that there are some challenges like the need for involvement of a multidisciplinary team in the preparation of appropriate teaching materials, that meets quality with the new profile of students in a digital, interconnected generation, limitations and difficulties of some students to access and use all communication technologies, and also the lack of time available for student and lack of commitment to the course were cited by authors. It is noteworthy that, despite the difficulties and challenges encountered in the development of distance education, this modality is effective and has unquestionably contributed to the democratization of learning through quality education to a large number of people, in addition to meeting the flexibility requirements of the contemporary world.
