The thesis investigates how modeling complex forms and simulating structural behavior interacts in the design process of architectural form through digital technologies. Research is systematized into two parts: historical contextualization and experiments. Historical contextualization has two historiographical approaches that result in two historical sequences. In the first, the evolution of architecture theories and treaties are presented, focusing on form, as well as the means that influenced their development. In the second, the evolution of construction is presented, focusing on structural knowledge as well as the means that influenced its development. Experiments are conducted using different methods of interaction between structural design and architectural form through digital technologies like form-finding, digital fabrication and parametric modeling. The conclusion indicates critical aspects observed in the historical analyses and experiments. Finally, future studies are suggested to continue the research.
