Patellar tendinopathy is the pathology with the highest incidence among athletes who perform jumps during their sports practice. For being a pathology of multifactorial origin, several studies try to relate intrinsic and extrinsic variables with the development of this pathology in athletes, especially of modalities that include jumping as a fundamental part of their dynamics, such as volleyball and basketball. The present study has the purpose of investigating the relationship between the limitation of the range of motion of ankle dorsiflexion and the presence of patellar tendinopathy in athletes. A research was conducted in databases using specific descriptors terms, for articles that approached this relationship and that enabled the accomplishment of a literature review. Five articles were used to make this work. It was possible to infer at the end of the review that a limitation of ankle dorsiflexion range of motion may be one of the factors related to the appearance of patellar tendinopathy in jumpers. However, the lack of prospective studies makes impossible a better investigation on the theme proposed by this work.
