Resumen
The present study aimed to synthesize the literature regarding the Running Related Injuries (RRI) in lower limbs in recreational runners based on biomechanical variables. It was made a literature review using as data bases: MEDLINE/PubMed, PsycInfo, and CINAHL, including studies that correlate the theme. They were excluded 123 and selected 12 articles for review. The findings showed that there are several factors related to training, anatomical structure and biomechanical factors. In reviewing the biomechanical factors were divided into 3 categories: pronation of the foot, range of motion and muscle activation. Among the articles, the majority of the reported injuries were related injuries with anterior knee pain. Within the analysis of the articles, risk factors such as inappropriate footwear use, excessive pronation of the feet during the running, weakness of external hip rotators are important to consider. Therefore it is up to the physical therapist, physical educator and coach follow the recreational runner and get a detailed analysis of the biomechanics of sports sign, which may vary for individual as they are not linear and unidirectional factors. We recommend further studies to complement the risk factors for lower limbs injuries in female and male recreational runners.
