Abstract
The identification and quantification of the effects that chemicals present in the
environment can cause in humans are of great importance for the assessment and
prevention of health risk caused by exposure to these agents. Biomarkers are tools that
enable the identification of toxic substances or their metabolites, as well as any early
biochemical or structural change which estimate the risk of exposure to chemicals.
Biomarkers of genotoxicity evaluate the effects of a variety of substances on the bodies
which are described as carcinogenic. In this context, falls into the Comet assay and the
Micronucleus Test, which assess damage to DNA caused by these chemicals.
