Resumen
The incidence of several types of cancer has been significant in recent years in Brazil and in the world. Cancer of the uterine cervix is one of them, and its early diagnosis enables effective treatment. The health care team has a key role in attracting women of childbearing age for Pap smear testing of the cervix, through health education, communication, demystifying the exam and its importance in the prevention of cervical cancer . Public policy instruments are of paramount importance to prevent this. The present study was designed to assess the difficulties faced by the health team in the prevention of cervical cancer. This is a review study of narrative literature, where scholars have been reported on the subject. It is concluded that health teams need to reassess their educational activities, showing that there are difficulties in seeing the individual as a whole, as an individual in a socio -cultural context, with values, beliefs, knowledge and behaviors . The approach of the individuals ,besides being favoured by bond, requires less technical language and better suited to their interests and needs. To this end, new educational strategies appropriate for the individual are necessary in order to adapt or change behaviors that prevent cancer of the uterine cervix.
