The overall goal of this work is to present and analyze the influence in the learning of students from a didactic sequence of modern physics lessons through the study of Xradiation, taking into account the insertion of that cognizance subjects in a society by means of teaching Science through the principles of Science, Technology and Society (STS). To this end, two 3rd years high school classes in a public school were analyzed. Initially, a pretest was administered in classrooms to check the studentspreconceptions about the subject. This procedure allowed evaluate to what extent the classes were starting from an already established knowledge on the topic. At the end of the teaching content a questionnaire (post test) was administered to students with the same questions as the pretest, seeking to assess the knowledge acquired by them. In the post test, questions were included to analyze the students motivation inclass. Taking into account the outcome of two classes, it might be argued that the proposed didactic sequence had a satisfactory result in the requirement teaching and learning, because the two classes presented, after the post tests applied, a considerable increase domain on the proposed topic content. It was concluded that the didactic sequence developed for this research was found satisfactory to learning science through STS. Considering science as an inserted form in society, andtechnology - a direct result of scientific advances - as one more agent present in society, it also concluded that teaching and learning cannot escape from this reality.
