Resumen
The aim of this study is to realize a bibliographical survey that enables to present the relation between some strength training protocols and the blood lactate concentration response through the analysis of experimental studies and textbooks involving this theme. For this thesearch websites Stanford University High Wire Press (www.highwire.org), CAPES journals (www.periodicos.capes.gov.br) and Pubmed/Medline (www.pubmed.com.br) and some text books had been used. In the search for the articles there was no difference in the selection ofinitial date until recent work dates. The articles used were ones which had access to download. Through the literature review it was observed that several studies show that protocols with training loads aiming muscle hypertrophy have a higher metabolic demand, especially higher [La], whereas, it has been associated with changes in concentration ofhormones, especially GH. The discussion of the mechanisms that explain the relation between lactate and GH is cited in several studies and usually depart the same principle, acidification in the muscle has been linked to stimulation of chemoreceptors, which send afferent signals to the hypothalamus-pituitary system through the groups III and IV nerve fibers thereby increasing the release of GH. Future studies are still required to clarify in more detail the interactive processes among these variables (GH and [La]).
