dc.description.abstractThe fencing walls, aggravated by contemporary building typologies, are elements often affected by pathologies. The use of reinforcements in horizontal laying joints by means of flat wire trusses, widely used in European constructions, has proved to be an interesting technical alternative in the prevention of cracks and is already part of masonry rationalization projects in Brazil. Its adoption increases the masonry's resistance to tension and shear stresses, improving the performance of these structures in the face of current construction models. However, its use requires constructive care in order to make the most of its benefits. This work compiles technical information about masonry reinforced with these elements in all types of blocks existing in Brazil, describing out the critical points of their use through a free online calculation program.
