The purpose of this project is to explore teaching German as a foreign language through a virtual learning environment (VLE). The project has an experimental character and will be offered to teachers and students of German who teach and study the language both face-to-face and online. It can be implemented by German teachers who are interested in bringing VLE to the classroom with the mediation of the Ensino de Línguas Online (ELO) tool. ELO is an online tool created by Professor Vilson Leffa together with other professors and designed to offer language courses. One of the characteristics of this platform lies in the fact that it is free and allows anyone to use and adapt it freely. Bearing in mind that ELO can be accessed through any mobile device, teachers can use the activities posted in this open educational resource as a way to reinforce the learning of activities used in face-to-face classes. Teaching mediated by VLE seeks to encourage students to look for new understandings of the world and, even more, to reconstruct their own knowledge. For this new reality of action imposed on the educator, it is understood that the teacher needs to be aware of the learning path that the student follows and be able to understand their culture and their context of life. Studies by authors such as Braga (2013), Grossi (2019), Leffa (2002, 2005, 2013, 2016), Paiva (2017, 2018), Araújo & Leffa (2016), Holden & Sykes ( 2013), Bevilaquia (2017) were used as theoretical reference. These authors argue that education should not turn a blind eye to this new world order and, therefore, advocate that educational practice should also be focused on this reality. Thus, educational practice should see these virtual learning environments as a potential tool to enhance educational processes, especially with regard to the learning of a second language mediated by these technological devices. Online activities were proposed and posted in the virtual ELO environment to help teachers in their application. The activities allow the student an intercultural exchange, which provides linguistic subsidies that facilitate communication and the expansion of their cultural universe. The modules of the pedagogical project are made up of activities that involve learning the historical, cultural and geographical components of Germany and will give the student several possibilities for expression and communication. They also focus on the learning of the lexicon of the German language, which gives the student the opportunity to use the language in authentic situations in their social interactions, such as the use of proverbs and idioms, as well as enable him to interpret the cultural meanings manifested in language. In addition, this project proposes activities with narratives that lead the student to reflect on his action in the world and thus understand the different dynamics of different cultures.
