Ostomy is a word which designates a situation wherein the artificil externalization of a hollow
organ is required as, for example, some portions of the gastrointestinal tract, respiratory,
urinary tract, or otherwise, to the external environment for draining, deletions or nutrition in
order to preserve life in the face of any situation where it is no longer possible to use the anus
or the bladder to the physiological elimination. The care planning to ostomy patients not only
requires physical care or teaching to the patient hygiene care and trade exchanges. A plan of
care throughout the perioperative period with a view to preoperative education is required. It
also requires the resumption of preoperative education for self-care, involving the patient /
family, aimed at rehabilitation. This complexity of nursing care to be provided in the ostomy
refers to the need to understand the changes that occur in your life and how he experiences
this process in nursing design. This study aimed to identify the perceptions of nurses about the
care of people with stoma disposal. One meta-synthesis was conducted to answer the main
question: what are the perceptions about the stoma disposal for nurses ?. The descriptors used
were Ostomy; Nursing care; Role of Professional Nursing; Qualitative research. The
databases used were BVS, PubMed and MEDLINE. It was obtained in the VHL Virtual
Health Library in a total of 88 articles, of which 83 were excluded. Five articles were included
in the sample of this meta-synthesis. The results showed that the allusion family, the issue and
actions of professional crisis or difficulty, guidance and knowledge were the themes that
emerged more. Finally, it is concluded that better training of professionals working with this
patient so that you can better care is needed.
