Educação em saúde como estratégia para promoção do envelhecimento saudável – revisão integrativa da literatura

Worldwide population is getting increasingly aged, with new challenges that have
arisen in relation to health and disease parameter. One of the specificities of health
education activities is the promotion of public health. Thinking about it, there was this
study aimed to characterize the scientific knowledge on studies that include
educational actions in health and promoting healthy aging. The research was
developed from an integrative review of the literature from 2009 to 2013, in SCIELO
databases, LILACS and MEDLINE using the keywords "health education", "health
promotion" and "aging", and selected three articles related to the subject for analysis.
The results indicate studies selected in the databases LILACS and SCIELO, in 2009,
2010 and 2012, in the southeast, south and west-central Brazil and level of evidence
4 and 5. Most educational activities took place in a group at the Open University to
the Elderly, Family Health Program and Basic Health Unit, whose main themes
health promotion. All studies have addressed benefit from the educational activities.
However it can be concluded that the studies did not show high levels of evidence of
health education research as a parameter for the promotion of healthy aging. This
demonstrates the need to draw up research with greater methodological rigor, that
are more comprehensive with higher population.
