dc.description.abstractGastroenteritis or diarrhea, a condition that has a strong focus on childhood , is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in children under five years of age, especially in underdeveloped and developing countries , because it involves a number of environmental factors, economic and socio-cultural. In Matias Cardoso / MG, we observe a high prevalence of gastroenteritis in the pediatric population, with a higher incidence among children 0-2 years. This paper was developed from a study of the data presented in the report built Coordination of Epidemiological Surveillance of the municipality. The analysis of the notification forms of acute diarrheal diseases PSF Our Lady of Glory during the first three months of 2013 showed that the high incidence of gastroenteritis in the study area require immediate decisions and actions. Were then held meetings with members of all health teams PSF to reinforce the importance of reporting all cases of diarrheal diseases, to ensure that control measures were taken promptly and effectively. For such an intervention plan was developed to decrease the incidence of pediatric gastroenteritis. In the implementation of this plan the proposed method was the Situational Strategic Planning (ESP), with practical actions, and educational activities. The distribution of measuring spoons for the preparation of ORS and chlorine solution for treatment of consumption and distribution of filters for the population most vulnerable to diarrheal diseases were adopted water. The shares were held in partnership with the Municipal Health and Social Action, as well as businessmen and farmers who reside in the territory. Action results demonstrated that there was increased use of oral rehydration to treat dehydration, and increased to 100 % of the residents who use filtered or treated water, an important step towards the prevention of this and other diseases that are related to the quality of the water used by the populati
