Strength training has been shown to be important for performance improvement in various sports. Including the endurance race. Including the endurance race. The aim of this study was to assess the available literature the influence of the strength training to improve the performance of endurance runners. A search was conducted in the Pubmed database, with key words strength training "AND" running economy where they were found 23 articles and from the inclusion and exclusion criteria remained seven (7). After this was carried out in which reverse search found 2 more items totaling nine in total. The results show that strength training proved important for the improvement of performance of endurance runners. This improvement seems to be related to the neuromuscular adaptations, independent of the strength manifestation trained.
