Resumen
This theoretical essay presents a reflection about how the digital inclusion can support the
social inclusion of the students from youth and adult education (YAE). This reflection is
made from the standpoint of institutional theory. It was verified that the knowledge of
information and communication technologies (ICTs) and other skills related to digital
world implies on the higher level of symbolic capital in the different social fields. It
contributes to understanding the digital exclusion as a potential new way of social control
by dominant classes. Therefore, the priority of digital inclusion in YAE can prevent (or
mitigate) an asymmetric distribution of the different symbolic capitals of the digital world.
Thus, it was observed that is important treating the digital inclusion as a priority of YAE’s
students in order to emancipate them in the current institutional framework.
