Educação em saúde dentro do sistema prisional do Brasil: uma revisão integrativa

Health education in the criminal justice system is an initiative of human rights and to control or reduce the most frequent disorders that affect the prison population. Health as a right of prisoners and their adherence contributes to actions that represent the improvement of health conditions of inmates also implying changes in prison conditions. This study aimed to identify which is the process of health education within the existing prison system in Brazil. It is an integrative literature review conducted with a sample of 07 articles published in Portuguese and in the period 1999 to 2010, identified in the databases BDENF, LILACS and the HEALTH MINISTRY. Health education can contribute to the deconstruction of misconceptions, so no need to know how does the health education within the prison system in the country. Analysis of the results presented by different authors conclude that the criminal justice system, needs to be transformed so that the conceptions and practices of health beyond the prison walls and allow the questioning of the various systems that support the respect for life, rights and dignity of the human person, considering the specificities of the condition of these customers.
