Resumen
This current study aimed to describe and understand the cognitive demands of the work and its impact on the health of the female workers who glue the adhesive to the shoe sole in a shoe factory. It was developed a hypothesis that the complaints that were showed by those female workers (nervousness, fatigue, tension, muscle aches), are related to cognitive demands and physical effort that came from their work, which directly affects their health. The methodology used was based on bibliographic data and Ergonomic Work Analysis (EWA), which main focus is detailed observation of their work. The ergonomic analysis showed that the female workers perform an activity that is characterized by time pressure, dictated by the goals associated with a quality control tasks that require cognitive processes such as attention and concentration, along with repetitive work that requires agility in an environment of work conditions where there is poor ventilation and use of chemical products. The analysis of the work activities indicated that the cognitive demands of their work, added to the physical demands can directly affect the health of the female workers, what allows this study to relate the cognitive demands to complaints of the female workers
