Abstract: The objective of this research is to analyze the presence of Burnout Syndrome in
professionals of the diagnostic imaging service (doctors and radiologists) of hospitals in
Mendoza under the context of the Covid-19 pandemic, in the year 2022. For which it was
carried out carried out a quantitative study, with a descriptive-correlational, cross-sectional
design.
This study was carried out with a sample of professionals (n=70), the inclusion criteria
being between 22 and 60 years old, being doctors or radiologists (graduates or diagnostic
imaging technicians) and having worked for at least 1 year. The instruments used for data
collection were a sociodemographic questionnaire and the Maslach Burnout Inventory
validated in Argentina.
As a result, the absence of Burnout Syndrome was demonstrated in the total sample of
participants with 71.4% (50), leaving 28.6% (20) with its presence. Of the professionals who
presented Burnout, a contingency table was used to find out what percentage of the groups
presented Burnout, and it was found that 85% were doctors. On the other hand, high values
were observed in the dimensions of emotional exhaustion (AE), depersonalization (D) and
personal fulfillment (PR) individually, these criteria being insufficient to compose Burnout. In
addition, it was established that the variables seniority and gender were not significant results
in the investigation, but that age was shown to be related to the dimensions of Burnout.
In short, the presence of Burnout was demonstrated in doctors, leaving the rest of the
professionals (radiologists) without it. Therefore, they did not constitute the necessary criteria
for Burnout Syndrome, but they did present high values in the three dimensions (AE, D and
RP) separately.
