Cartagena de Indias está catalogada como una de las ciudades más turísticas de Colombia. Sin embargo, el crecimiento acelerado y el aumento de las inversiones en la zona Histórica y del Caribe Norte que incluye el Centro, San Diego y Getsemani, han generado un desplazamiento de la comunidad debido a la presión social y económica, o gentrificación, como se denomina actualmente. Esta investigación, analiza las transformaciones que han tenido la ciudad y el barrio Getsemani desde la colonia hasta el día de hoy. Asimismo, se identifican los tipos de planificación y participación que se aplicaron durante estos periodos. Además, se explican los fenómenos de gentrificación y desarrollo turístico, sus causas y consecuencias, y se estudian las medidas de protección para el patrimonio material e inmaterial. Cartagena de Indias is ranked as one of the most popular tourist cities of Colombia, However, the accelerate
increase of investment in the Historic and the North Caribbean area, which includes the neiborhoods, El Centro, San Diego and Getsemani, have generated a displacement of the community due to the social and economic pressure, or gentrification, as is currently called. This research analyzes the transformations that have had the city and the Getsemani district from the colony to the present day. Also, identify the types of planning and participation that were applied during these periods. ln addition, explains the phenomenon of gentrification and development of tourism, its causes and consequences, and measures of protection are studied for the tangible and intangible heritage.
