Resumen
Endodontics is the evidence-based science and advancement of technologies directed to the field of diagnostics, equipment and modern operative techniques, with the main results of increased planning security and tangible predictability of treatment. These techniques use magnification in vision that can favorably remove carious dentin without removing healthy tissue unnecessarily, the use of magnification devices in endodontics is associated with improved clinical and radiographic results in terms of treatments related to endodontic therapy, endodontic surgery, apicoectomy, periapical surgery, microscope, endoscope, loupes, magnification devices, in various types of Coronal Access. The present study aims to determine the frequency of use of different
magnification systems in the clinical practice of endodontics graduates of the University of Santo Tomas, under a descriptive observational cross-sectional study, with a sample of 167 graduates of the Endodontics Program until the year 2021. The results showed that most of the specialists (80%) during their practical stage used some type of magnification, either magnifying glass or
microscope. The results also revealed that 75.58% of the respondents, equivalent to 65 professionals, stated that they had used magnifying glasses as a magnifying instrument for their practice; while 23.26% of the respondents stated that they had used the microscope. Other instruments used as magnifying instruments were cell phone photos (8.33%). As a conclusion it was obtained that the magnification system most used by the endodontic graduates of the University of Santo Tomas in clinical practice were magnifying loupes used in the Opening and Localization stage of endodontic treatment with 89.19% and only 64.58% of the participants stated that they used magnification in all the endodontic treatment.
