Resumen
Introduction: Hypopnea apnea syndrome (SAHOS) is an alteration that affects the airways, causing interruptions in breathing during sleep. This study used the Sleep Apnea Quality of Life Index (SAQLI) questionnaire validated in its Colombian version at the Universidad Santo Tomás-Bucaramanga to evaluate the quality of life in people with SAHOS, of which domains were considered (A, B, C, D). Objective: To determine the quality of life in patients with SAHOS who attend the Pneumological Institute of the East during the first quarter of 2020.Method: Quality of life was assessed in patients with SAHOS considering sociodemographic and clinical variables in addition to the SAQLI questionnaire through a cross-sectional analytical observational study. Patients over the age of 18 were included, who signed informed consent and retained autonomy. The data was recorded in Excel and imported into STATA14 to calculate central trend and dispersion measures.
Results: The questionnaire was applied to 105 people, 56 men and 49 women with SAHOS. According to the analysis of sociodemographic variables, the highest scores were presented in women, widower, housewife and stratum 6. Scores related to low quality of life were identified in men, free union, stratum 2 and unemployed. Statistically significant differences in dimension B were identified in marital status, having higher "widowed" scores and lower "free union" scores. Conclusion: It was observed that participants had a diminished quality of life in: men, free union, stratum 2 and unemployed.
