Resumen
In the present article of reflection, the insertion of the internationalization processes in the Small and medium enterprises - hereinafter SMEs - is analyzed, determining some concepts, theories, strategies and benefits of this process and considering the impacts generated by the application of these in SMEs, in order to detect the importance of internationalization in the business and economic growth of a region.
Next, the national handicraft sector is analyzed, highlighting its importance for the economy and cultural development of the country and considering which are the regions with the highest production, within which Boyacá stands out as a productive sector represented by several towns, Within these Tunja that has a good representation of artisanal commerce, however, observing the statistics of the Chamber of Commerce, the contribution that this city has and the department in the exports of handicrafts at national level is low, for this reason it is given to know in the following article how, through the insertion of the internationalization processes of artisanal products, based on the approach of a value chain, it leads to increased sales, generating benefits and impacts in this sector.
Finally, a real case study of the ARTCAR company from Tunja, in the handmade sector is presented, which through the implementation of the internationalization process carried out in business practice in the Mayor's Office of Tunja with the Activa-T program, managed to start its exports by improving its processes through An established value chain.
